What Is a Rocker Shaft?
Automotive rocker shafts are robust, cylindrical components – typically manufactured from hardened steel – that serve as pivot points for rocker arms within the valve train.
They provide a stable mounting platform and support the transfer of motion from the camshaft to the engine’s valves.

Commonly found in overhead valve (OHV) engines and certain high-performance applications, rocker shafts are available in both solid and tubular designs.
Solid rocker shafts are usually forged for maximum strength and rigidity, offering excellent resistance to wear under demanding conditions.
Tubular rocker shafts, by contrast, are hollow and lighter in weight. Many are designed to distribute oil along the shaft, ensuring proper lubrication of rocker arm pivot points.

- low oil pressure.
