What does the subframe kit do in a car?
A subframe kit is a complete mounting kit for the subframe of the car.
It consists of the sub support frame, and the bolts and bushes required for installation.
In a vehicle, the subframe is a separate structure located below the vehicle’s chassis or mainframe. It provides additional support for the axle, suspension and drive train, and is alternatively known as the engine cradle or K-frame.
The role of the subframe kit is to evenly distribute the weight of the engine and transmission across the chassis, thereby increasing the stability and performance of the car.
It further acts as a safety mechanism by absorbing the impact of a collision or crash.

Because the sub-structure is typically welded or bolted to the vehicle, subframe kits include springs or rubber bushings to alleviate the noise and vibrations of the engine and suspension.
How do subframe kits work?
The subframe is basically a mini support frame manufactured from high-tensile strength steel or aluminium.
It cradles and protects key vehicle components, provides structural support, and optimises weight distribution.

The modularity of design, in addition to the availability of quality subframe kits suitable for different vehicle makes and models, enables a swifter and less complicated repairs or replacement process – of the supported components, and the subframe itself.
Signs of a damaged subframe kit
Damage to the subframe, or the mounting components in the subframe kit, can have an effect on the vehicle’s safety and drive dynamics.
When the tyres wear unevenly, there are alignment or steering issues, and the car makes rattling, creaking or clunking noises when travelling on rough roads or over bumps, it is typically a sign of a worn, corroded or damaged subframe.
